Hello, all. My name is Traci Griggs and I am the mastermind behind Griggs Photography and the Mitten Photography blog. I am a photographer by passion and trade and a wanderer and philosopher by desire and happenstance.
My interest in photography began when I was young and would steal away with my parents' cameras during family gatherings. By fortune of timing I was able to take a couple of photography classes in high school which started the beginning of my education and planted the roots of a life long love.
In 2008 I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art and Design with a Concentration in Photography from Northern Michigan University. I had the fortune of learning from an amazing set of professors and fellow students while studying at NMU. It was a blessing to be able to study the art of photography in such a naturally beautiful and graceful place as the Upper Peninsula. It a place where there is never any shortage of new, interesting places to explore and photograph.
Since my graduation I have done work as a freelance photographer around Michigan and the Midwest, reaching out for any opportunity to keep my shutter clicking away. I have yet to reach a point where photography is my full time gig, but I am hopeful that it will come around the corner any time so long as I keep trekking forward.
